Derrick Thomas, founder & owner of Umeus Consulting Services, has a passion for helping people and a desire to see people succeed and excel in every area of their lives.  This passion to help others led Derrick to earn his BA in Communication from Aurora University and his MA in Psychology from Arizona State University Global Campus (formerly Ashford University).    The large gap between the earning of his degrees was the season of life experiences that Derrick draws much of his practical therapeutic style from; as he is a firm believer that experience is the best teacher; beginning with your experience with God.  After earning his Master's degree, Derrick began working in the psychology arena by working with Wards of the State and adults with behavioral health challenges in Illinois and Wisconsin, and the support teams that worked with them.  Derrick flourished in this arena and made strong and lasting professional bonds with key personnel and pivotal colleagues; creating a network of support that has transcended culture and locale while striving to meet the basic needs of all people to be seen, heard, and respected no matter their plight.  It was this passion for making a real difference in the lives of real people in a real way that inspired Derrick to found Umeus Consulting Services in 2025.  Just as Derrick has worked diligently throughout his career to grow and make a difference in the lives of others through prayer and exercising the gifts he's been given to help others, this same prayer focused approach of assisting people in their journey to self-discovery and the exercising of their gifts to make a difference in the lives of others is the driving force behind Umeus' mission of meeting people where they are in order to help them get to where they want to be!!!
